Our first Masterclass is designed for emerging producers, though it is open to producers at all levels. Our experienced industry panelists cover specific areas that must be considered when producing television.

Irene Gardiner will be joined by a panel of industry experts, including Julian Arahanga (Producer and Director at Awa Films), Alice Shearman (Executive Director - NZWG ), Kay Ellmers (Senior Commissioner - RNZ), Amie Mills (Head of Funding - NZ On Air), and Tony Manson (Former TVNZ 1 Commissioner and Freelance Executive Producer).

Masterclass #2: 'SIS' The Comedy - A Case Study

This Masterclass is aimed at anyone with an interest in diverse and inclusive storytelling. It explores how the smash hit comedy special ‘Sis’ came to be commissioned by Comedy Central and Prime, and its impact on Aotearoa and beyond. 

Hosted by Pan-Asian Screen Collective co-founder and Screenwriter Shuchi Kothari, our fantastic lineup of panelists are Hanelle Harris (Producer/Director, Culture Factory) Karin Williams (Executive Producer, Multinesia) Dana Youngman and Annie Murray (Commissioners, Prime) and Daniel Morrison (Viacom, Australia).

Masterclass #3: 'Film Distribution in a COVID-19 World
Brought to you by ANZSA

Join host Jill Macnab from Vendetta Productions for a Masterclass discussion on how COVID-19 has impacted film distribution in 2020 and what we can expect moving forward. Panelists include David White from 'This Town', Kerry Warkia from 'The Legend of Baron To'a', Luke Murray from Madman Entertainment, and Jasmin McSweeney from the NZFC. Masterclass #7: THE MENTOR / MENTEE RELATIONSHIP

Join host Karin Williams and guest panelists for this Spada Masterclass on navigating the mentor/mentee relationship, and making space for the people and the projects to thrive. Sharlene George and Rickylee Russell-Waipuka share their experiences of a producer mentorship evolving over several years, while writers Nick Ward and Rosie Howells share experiences of their mentor relationship as part of the NZFC's Hunga Taunaki ā Rorohiko online mentoring programme.
