COVID-19 Update 9 March 2022: Self Isolation Period Reduces for Positive Cases and Household Contacts

COVID-19 ISOLATION PERIOD REDUCTION
Following today's announcement by Minister for COVID-19 Response Chris Hipkins:
  • Confirmed COVID-19 cases and Household Contacts isolation period to reduce from 10 days to 7 days. This change takes place from 11:59 PM, Friday, 11 March 2022.
  • Household Contacts will need to have a rapid antigen test at day 3 and day 7 of their isolation period. If they become symptomatic they should also get a test, and if the result is positive, they are required to isolate for seven days from that point.
  • If a person is isolating and still has symptoms after 7 days, they are advised to stay home until 24 hours after symptoms resolve.
  • Recovered cases will no longer need to self-isolate if they become a household contact within 90 days after having the virus. This is an increase from the current 28 days.
  • The MOH asks that all RAT results are reported using MyCovidRecord, whether positive or negative, to allow them to understand how the virus is spreading through communities.
  • If someone is symptomatic but returning a negative RAT, the advice is to stay home and keep testing until symptoms clear.
  • Those waiting for the Novavax COVID-19 vaccine will be able to book an appointment from 10 March 2022. More information HERE
