Following yesterday's Cabinet meeting, and on advice from health experts, Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has announced:

  • Auckland will move to Alert Level 3 at 11:59PM Tuesday, 21 September 2021.
  • The rest of New Zealand remains at Alert Level 2.
  • Following positive cases in Waikato a Section 70 notice in place in the area north of Highway 2 with everyone in this area advised to remain at home, and monitor for symptoms. (*UPDATE 22/9/21 - This area now shifts to L3)  A map will go on the Health Ministry’s website.

Key points:

  • You can find information on Level Three HERE
  • Auckland will remain in level three for at least two weeks, with a review of the alert levels scheduled for Monday, 4 October 2021.
  • Almost all cases of the last 14 days have either been household or known contacts, and wastewater testing suggests there is no significant undetected transmission.
  • People’s household bubbles must remain small and exclusive in level three, with no gatherings allowed.
  • People are required to keep working from home if possible.
  • Gathering limits for the rest of the country in Level 2 are able to increase from 50 people to 100 people.
  • Masks are now mandatory for students attending high school in level three.
  • People over 65 in Auckland who have not yet been vaccinated are advised to stay home if possible and utilise those around them for support and supplies.

The alert level changes will no doubt be welcome, however, we acknowledge that level three still limits the work able to be undertaken in the screen sector. If you are unsure whether you can work at level three please consult the ScreenSafe COVID-19 Guidelines
