Vaccinated Travellers Will No Longer Need to Self-Isolate
Rāhina, 28 Hui-tanguru 2022 / Monday, 28 February 2022In today's Post-Cabinet update Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has announced:
- New Zealand's border is now open to vaccinated New Zealand citizens and residents and other eligible travellers from Australia.
- Fully vaccinated travellers from Australia will no longer need to self-isolate from 11.59PM, Wednesday, 2 March 2022.
- Fully vaccinated New Zealanders (and other eligible travellers as noted in Step Two) from anywhere in the world no longer need to self-isolate from 11.59PM, Friday, 4 March 2022 (previously 13 March).
- All incoming travellers will still be required to provide a negative pre-departure test within 48 hours prior to departure.
- All incoming travellers will still be required to undertake a rapid antigen test (RAT) within the first 24 hours after arriving, and on day 5/6 after arrival.
- Any traveller who tests positive will be required to meet the same isolation criteria as community cases (currently ten days isolation).
- Unvaccinated travellers, and those who do not meet New Zealand’s vaccination requirements, who are eligible to enter New Zealand will continue to enter MIQ.
- Cabinet will also consider bringing Other Steps in the reopening plan forward.
