IMPORTANT COVID-19 PANDEMIC UPDATE FOR NZ PRODUCERS


On Thursday the 12th of March the World Health Organisation (WHO) made the assessment that COVID-19 coronavirus be characterised as a pandemic.

NZFC Travel Grants Programme Suspended
Further to the WHO’s announcement, the NZFC, after careful consideration regarding funding of applicants to attend overseas events, has made the decision to suspend its travel grants programme for the time being. It will continue to monitor the situation, and if the pandemic assessment is withdrawn, it will review its decision.  The NZFC notes that this is an unprecedented moment, and it is important to approach it with a sense of calm and responsibility for everyone in our industry.

Health & Safety Procedures/Recommendations for Producers
SPADA continues to recommend to all productions and production companies to stay up to date with the Government health alert and latest medical advice that can be found on the Ministry of Health’s website.
 
A reminder for producers that under the 2015 Health and Safety At Work Act, PCBU’s have the primary duty of care.  That means that a business has the primary responsibility for the health and safety of workers and others influenced by its work.  The PCBU has an obligation for ensuring so far as is reasonably practicable, the health and safety of all workers either engaged on the production or carrying out activities at that workplace.
