Claris, Elsie, Minnie, Sally, and now Robbie - created their first web series in 2014, and it became a small cult hit. Thousands of young women around the globe watched Nothing Much To Do, a modern interpretation of Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing, inspired by the format of American vlogseries The Lizzie Bennet Diaries. After a successful Kickstarter gaining over $20,000, The Candle Wasters created their second series, Lovely Little Losers, based on Love’s Labour’s Lost. In 2015, The Candle Wasters pitched to NZ On Air as part of The Webseries Fund, and were successfully funded. This year they have focused their energies on creating and releasing their latest series Bright Summer Night, based on A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
Claris and Elsie will talk about their experience of storytelling in the digital era, their focus on a female audience, and their love for Shakespeare and how he is still relevant today.
