Acclaimed Director, Dame Jane Campion, will deliver this year's NZ On Air’s John O’Shea Memorial Address. Campion is the second of four women ever nominated for the Academy Award for Best Director and is the first—and thus far, only—female filmmaker in history to receive the Palme d'Or, which she received for directing the acclaimed film The Piano (1993). In 2012 Campion completed TOP OF THE LAKE, a six hour miniseries for the BBC and The Sundance Channel which she created and wrote with her long-time collaborator, Gerard Lee. Jane also executive produced and directed three of the six episodes. TOP OF THE LAKE is the first television miniseries to screen at the Sundance and Berlin Film Festivals. It received eight Emmy Award nominations. Jane and Gerard partnered again on TOP OF THE LAKE CHINA GIRL which premiered at this year’s Cannes Film Festival. The miniseries was created by Jane and written by Jane and Gerard. Jane executive produced and directed two of the six episodes.
